Having ran several tournaments beforehand, Active Gamers LA felt ready to tackle a major tournament and held Triple Threat on November 14 at the Hanger Athletic Xchange (HAX) in Hawthorne, California. Boasting a $2200 pot per game, this tournament brought out the heavy hitters like Justin Wong, Alex Valle, and Martin “Marn” Phan. With such heavy hitters and a large pot, Triple Threat was set to be the biggest tournament Southern California, or even the United States, has had in a while. How did it turn out? Tekken 6 Launch Party in Hawthorne, CA Print E-mail

To celebrate the newest iteration of the Tekken franchise, Bandai Namco, Active Gamers LA, SD Tekken, and Shoryuken held a launch party on October 24th, 2009 in Hawthorne, California. Eagar fans queued up outside the Hanger Athletic Xchange, awaiting the doors to open for their first preview of the complete console port of Tekken 6, days before its release.

Evolution Championship Series 2009 Report Print E-mail
Crowds of gamers stood outside the Rio's ballroom in Las Vegas, Nevada. The gamers came in all varieties. Some of them were casual gamers, dressed up as characters like Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike's Dudley, while others were hardcore gamers here on business, carrying their most prized, trusted controller and hoping to place, or even win, the biggest fighting game tournament in America. They were all here for Evolution 2009, or EVO.

NIS America Badman Press Event 2009 Print E-mail
Nippon Ichi Software America (NISA) hosted a press event on May 7 in San Francisco. There was food, booze and of course games. Kiosks and test stations were set up for playing, such as Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman!: What did I do to Deserve this? for the PSP and Phantom Brave for the Wii. A significant number of new games were announced from NIS America, but not before some formal introductions and guests speeches.
