So What If Japan’s Behind?

Recently, Capcom’s Kenji Inafune stated that Japan’s gaming industry is “five years behind” the west. I look at the games that Japan’s pumping out and can’t help but agree. Even games that I’ve been personally hyped up about, like Vanquish and Asura’s Wrath, seem like they’ve been done before or just recreations of games from western developers. But the key question is this: is that really a bad thing?

WHAT'S the deal with imaginary girls?

So recently, I’ve been playing this game that I know a lot of you have heard of…LovePlus+. I write that with some shame, by the way. And I can’t help but ask myself, “What’s the deal with this game?!”

Why I Said Meh to SFxT

Sure, these two are the biggest franchises in fighting games, next to SNK, which has already collaborated with Capcom. But it still didn’t make me that excited. Sure, I’m happy that there will be another game. Sure, I’m happy that the fighting game genre is on a roll recently.

What everybody else seems to be excited about is the prospect of Tekken characters in a Street Fighter game or vice versa. Am I excited about that?

It didn’t even make me flinch.

Hey guys, I just uploaded a bunch of screens from Street Fighter X Tekken to my profile. Check it out here. GOGOGO. Anyone else hyped up for this game?

Once again, the North American release for Street Fighter IV gets inferior artwork compared to the rest of the world. While it's not horrifying by any standards, you can clearly see that it's simply the logo photoshopped with some character portraits that have been available to the masses for a while now. On the other hand...

No lie, I thought I was watching a Persona trailer. Either way, get hype! Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars for the Wii comes in less than a month! American fighting game fans who don't pirate their Wii games can finally rejoice. And remember, this isn't an inferior version to the originally released Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes! It will feature Frank West from Dead Rising, Zero from Megaman X (!), Yami of Okami, Tekkaman Blade from...Tekkaman Blade, and Joe the Condor from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. This is such a big expansion that even Japan will be getting a release!

Hosted by Active Gamers LA at the Hanger Athletic Xchange, the same host and venue for the Tekken 6 Launch Party, Triple Threat will be the largest fighting game tournament we've had in a while. As the image says, each game will have prizes totaling $2200, bringing out some of the best pros the west coast has to offer and the US National Street Fighter IV champion Justin Wong.
