First of all I want to apologize for the sparse news updates. We're currently gearing up for another busy convention year prepping interviews, making arrangements for film and photography rights, and scheduling.
On the website side, we are also currently moving things around, applying much delayed revisions to the layout, and a whole bunch of other updates. This is a time consuming process but I think it will be worth the wait.
We're also lucky to have several new people who joined the site this year, and the work and ideas they've put out has been invaluable. We'll be actively recruiting new members so if you're interested, feel free to drop us a line on our contact page.
Expect to see improvements over the weeks!
After much consideration, I have decided to restart the staff blogs. I thought it might be interesting to share the ups and downs (more downs recently) of trying to run and operate a site like ours.
I will also post information such as things we are working on such as articles, reports, new features, and bug fixes in progresses.
We are currently aware of various bugs that are affect general network operations. Affected sections of the site include but not limited to the Forum, Community, Gallery, Search, and Frontpage. Many of these bugs appeared after various site upgrades. We will be working over the course of the week to resolve these issues and will update accordingly.
Over the next few days, the community and website may experience some minor visual problems while we are in the process of maintenance.
The main gallery is undergoing maintenance. We are also in the process of migrating the gallery into a new one.
Thank you to the readers who pointed out that the game does in fact have a fast forward feature which is unlocked after a first play through. A few typos and layout issues with the Sakura Wars Review has also been corrected.
Productivity on the site has recently declined due to staff structure reorganization as well as the overall website layout. Somethings we are specifically addressing:
Implementing a new gallery solution (in progress)
Fixing layout issues
Reboot of the forums
Reorganize menus
Revamp the frontpage layout and positioning
Increase site performance and load speed
Users may find broken menus and other oddities during the website reorganization in the coming week.
A recent release of PHP installed on the server is causing load and caching issues. User may get a blank white page while trying to load the website or experience slow load times. A work around is currently in progress. Users are advised to clear their cache and cookies from their browsers and to reload the page if they get a blank page.
There has been some core issues with the backend management of the community profiles. No trouble found with clean installation on a remote site, problem seems to only persists on live site. Problem has not been localized, no estimated time until fixed. Community profiles and data have been backed up and will be restored once problem has been fixed.
Update: Community has been restored. Was unable to fix the problem; however, a work around was found and implemented. Please report any problems or bugs you may find in the forums.
