On Monday February 22nd, NIS America (NISA) held their annual press event at the Minna Art Gallery in San Francisco. The doors opened promptly at 6:00pm. On behalf of the NISA staff we were greeted with some Disgaea themed food and signature prinny drinks.

The main keynote began around 6:30 PM and they started of with a 2015 recap. A new trailer for the game Grand Kingdom was shown along with a release date. Shortly after they brought out the director of Grand Kingdom Tomohiko Deguchi as a special guest and he gave a small speech about the game.

The presentation continued on after that with some new game announcements: Tohou Genso Rondo, Yomawari Night Alone, (htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, and Criminal Girls: Invite Only to Steam), and to no one's surprise, Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness.

After that the keynote came to a close, we had some time to sit down and chat with some of the NISA staff members over a few drinks and answer some of the burning questions from our twitter followers.

Heroes Must Die/Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight
When asked, we were told both games are currently on a large list of titles for review. There are many people and factors involved in the selection process which is one of the reason why it takes so long for release announcements. If it does get selected, it will most likely be announced later this year at another event.

Physical Release for Yomawari: Night Alone?
This question actually got a chuckle and while they couldn’t get into details, they did note if they did release a physical edition, it will be VERY limited similar to the physical release of htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary.

Future Releases of More Visual Novels?
They are currently testing the waters out but they would love to introduce more visual novels to the US. The popularity of some recent visual novel titles has shown them there are definitely interests in visual novels by American players. They are always listening to their fan feedback and thankful for them.

Release of More Disgaea for PC
They are definitely interested but they want to first gauge some of the feedback and reactions for the PC release the first Disgaea. They also chose the first game so that players new to the series can start from the beginning with the original gameplay and progress with the natural evolution of enhancements and updates in later titles if they continue to release Disgaea for PC.

As Disgaea is developed in house, it also makes it easier to port to the PC compared to some of the other games they license and distribute.

Psycho Pass PC Release
There were some confusion regarding if Psycho Pass would be released for PC. It turns out some of the confusion might have stemmed from originally they weren’t 100% sure if they could make it in time for a simultaneous release with the Vita and PS4 version. Currently they believe they are on track, but they will have more information on it later.

Criminal Girls Uncensored
One of our most asked question, unfortunately as fans can guess, it will be a direct port from the original.

Otome Games (games targeting female audience)
They expressed they are interested but nothing on the radar at the moment. They feel confident now more than they did previously on being able to handle the sheer amount of text translations in visual novels.
