Twinkle Queen will be available on the Wii and feature characters from Shukufuku no Campanella, Tayutama: Kiss on my Deity, Shin Koihime Musou, and G Senjou no Maou. More than likely, these will be a stronger selling point than the gameplay itself. However, Milestone already seems to have included a good deal of depth in the engine. As with most fighting games, these features should be used carefully. Tagging out while being hit or blocking will cost two Nobel Gauges, the game’s meter for doing supers and such. Tagging out during a combo will cost one gauge, while dash cancelling will cost half a gauge. These will hopefully ensure that the features won’t be abused.
Fighting game veterans should recognize these features from games like Marvel vs. Capcom, Super Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Whether or not these features will mesh well together remains to be seen; we’ll find out when the game launches in Japan on August 26. The game is unlikely to hit western shores; perhaps if American companies, such as MangaGamer, that publish visual novel games continue to grow, this won’t be the case in the future.
