The performers for one of Japan’s most important New Year show, the 69th Kouhaku Uta Gassen has been announced. Kouhaku is an annual music show aired by the Japanese broadcasting company NHK on New Year's Eve. The performers are separated into two teams, red for the females, and white for the males. Only the most popular performers are invited to the show and at the end of the night, the audience votes on which team performed better.

Some of the highlights this year include South Korean pop group TWICE and pop group Little Glee Monster making their second appearances in a row, DAOKO making her first appearance who is best known for her music in the mobile game Dragalia Lost, and HYDE’s (L’Arc-en-Ciel, Vamps) first appearance teaming up with the legendary YOSHIKI. The idol group Aqours from the anime Love Live Sunshine!! and performers from the musical adaptation of the mobile game Touken Ranbu, will also be making a special appearance.

Bright, cheerful, and full of energy, Little Glee Monster is a rising young Japanese girl group. Featuring powerfu vocals, their song "Gao Gao All-Star" appears as the fourth ending theme song for Pokemon XY. Learn more about the group in our video interview at J-POP Summit in San Francisco!
