Gaming News (477)

Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood's release date is just a few short days away, and to help build anticipation for its launch, an eight person boss battle is open for attendees at E3. This is a the first chance for the public to try Stormblood and its two new classes: red mage and samurai. I braved the lines to get my hands on the new battle coming this expansion.

The event is open to the public and features various panels and many unreleased games with playable demos on location.

Aniplex Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) and DELiGHTWORKS Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) announced their plans to launch an English version of Fate/Grand Order in North American territories in Summer 2017 at the Aniplex industry panel at Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington. The game will be available on both iOS and Android platforms.

Fate/Go Coming to the US?

Written by

Attendees this morning in Seattle for Sakura-Con couldn’t help but notice the cut out displays and banner from the mobile game Fate/Grand Order (Fate/GO) at the Aniplex booth.

Aniplex of America is the distributor for the animated short, Fate/Grand Order First Order; however, fans will note instead of using the key art from the animation, Aniplex has opted to use the artwork from the mobile game Fate/Grand Order. Aniplex is also set for a major announcement at 11AM PST tomorrow morning during their panel. In addition, while this may be a coincidence, a press conference will be held tomorrow at Sakura-Con to “unveil a major Anime series that will have a new game launching in the US in 2017.” A number of key staff members affiliated with Fate/GO has been rumored to be in attendance.

In 2016, Fate/Go was released in China by biligame, so the likelihood of the game to be released internationally in other territories is a possibility based on the success and popularity of the franchise. Another possibility is the announcement may be related to the VR exclusive title for the Playstation 4 Fate/Grand Order VR which was first shown to the public last month during AnimeJapan held at the Tokyo Big Sight.

As we have staff onsite at Sakura-Con, we'll keep you updated and will also be present for the press conference tomorrow.

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival: Impression

Written by

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas came and gone and probably will not return until a year after the next expansion. This year at Fan Festival, the biggest announcement that all FFXIV fans have been waiting for was the official announcement of the next expansion – Stormblood. This was announced on the very first day of the festival and was followed by a teaser trailer showcasing a mysterious blonde female in a red dress. Almost immediately, social media and FFXIV sub-Reddit exploded with speculations of who this mysterious female could be and what the new job will be. The opening keynote was of course presented by the director and producer of FFXIV, Naoki Yoshida, with on stage translations by Christopher Koji Fox. There was no official announcement of what the new battle jobs will be, but in typical Naoki Yoshida fashion, he wore a shirt that hinted what one of the jobs may be. The presentation lasted an hour and was followed by the Development Panel featuring Masaki Nakagawa on the main stage. During this panel, Masaki Nakagawa talked about the battle development for one of the newer 24 man raids that he worked on.

Try out the January-due Sequel.

A demo for Gravity Rush 2 will launch via the PlayStation Store tomorrow, December 22, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced. It features two paths—one for those who are new to Gravity Rush and another for veteran players.

Frontwing Inc., in partnership with AKABEiSOFT2 and Tokyo Otaku Mode, are relaunching their crowdfunding project to localize "Sharin no Kuni: The Girl Among the Sunflowers" on Kickstarter, with the new title "Re: Sharin no Kuni Project". The campaign will officially begin on November 21 at 6PM PT with a goal of $80,000, and features a multitude of updates and revisions, basted on both feedback from fans as well as internal evaluation of the original campaign. The campaign can be accessed at the following URL: here.

GameStop Expo 2016 Impression

Written by

This year GameStop Expo 2016 was held on September 14th at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. I attended this one-day event to check out some of the games that we didn’t have time to play at E3 or PAX. As with E3 this year, the emphasis revolved around VR and there plenty of opportunities to try out VR at GameStop Expo. GameStop Expo has a different feel than any other gaming convention I’ve attended so far.
