Marvelous USA has officially announced the upcoming release of Muramasa: Revenant Blades, an enhanced revival of the classic side-scrolling action-RPG, Muramasa: Rebirth. Developed by Vanillaware Ltd., this reimagined title is set to launch on February 4, 2027, across a wide range of platforms, including PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The publisher shared an extended gameplay showcase revealing updated visuals and new combat mechanics, signaling a major modernization for the beloved 2D action experience.

The upcoming release aims to be the definitive version of the title, allowing players to experience all six unique character storylines—starring Momohime, Kisuke, Okoi, Gonbe, Arashimaru, and Rajaki—right from the beginning. Significant technical and gameplay refinements have been implemented, including support for 4K resolution, a brand-new localization featuring English voiceover, and updated combat and weapon systems that offer over 100 swords to forge and master. With physical pre-orders already open, fans of the original Vanillaware action-RPG can look forward to diving into this revitalized adventure in early 2027.
