My Hero Academia The “Ultra” Stage is a 2.5D musical stage play adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi’s popular manga, My Hero Academia which opened on April 12th, at the Tennozu Galaxy Theater, in Tokyo, Japan.

The play is set in modern day and features a world where people have special powers called Quirks. The main character, Izuku “Deku” Midoriya dreams of becoming a hero but was born without a Quirk. After meeting his dream hero, All Might, he enrolls in a high school for heroes-in-training.

Shin Tamura plays Deku in his first leading role and commented enthusiastically during a press conference on opening day, “There are many 2.5 dimension musicals, but I hope this will become one of [My] Hero Academia’s masterpieces. No, I will make it so!”. The characters and costumes look exactly like the manga and anime. They are so on point that fans will be surprised by the attention to detail.

The Tokyo dates will be from April 12 to 4/21 and then the cast will travel to Osaka to perform from April 26 to April 29. The Osaka plays will be performed at the Sankei Hall Breeze.
