Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water has been on my radar ever since its reveal during E3 2021. I have always been into supernatural horror and what better way than to spend my Halloween delving into this spooky adventure.

The Story of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water follows Yuri, a girl with a unique ability known as "Shadow Reading." The main premise of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water has players equipped with an old camera known as Obscura, which will repel ghosts and find hidden clues that will uncover lost secrets.

With Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water's release right around the corner, I compiled a list of things that I am most excited about for the game.

Updated Visuals

FFMBWV

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is expected to stay largely the same as it was on Wii U. This new version seems like it will have visual improvements such as higher quality character models sharper resolutions, can you say 4K ghosts, anyone?

New Costumes

There will be a plethora of new costumes and accessories for each protagonist to rock while hunting down ghosts in style. As a bonus, players who purchase the game ahead of launch will receive an exclusive costume for Yuri, the "Ryza Outfit," and the "Ryza Hat," which are sure to spice up the adventure.

Photo Mode

The game's new photo mode allows players to use any character or ghost from their adventure, place them on a background of their choice, while adding a variety of effects (lens type, frame choice, focus, etc.) to make the scariest photo around. I can't wait to see what photos people come up with especially with the new costumes and accessories.

Updated Controls

FFMBWPM

Originally, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water launched on Wii U and specifically took advantage of the overly large gamepad its smaller screen to function as your camera. With this new version of the game, players will be able to play with the comfort of their favorite controller, whether it is a PlayStation or Xbox controller. However, Switch players will have the option of playing the game in portable mode, nothing like hunting ghosts on the go.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water launches on October 28th on PS4/PS5, Xbox One Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam).

I am super excited to jump back into this game and go ghost hunting again.
