Persona 25th Anniversary Special Events at Anime Expo and Worldwide

This year is the 25th Anniversary of Atlus' Persona franchise. Like a lot of people, I really got into Persona with Persona 3. And, like a lot of people, I then fell down the Shin Megami Tensei hole. Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner, SMT Nocturne, you name it, I played it. Didn't finish all of them, but it was a fun ride. A lot of people only know Persona 3, 4, and 5, but that's entirely okay. There's enough to go around for everyone.

Atlus has a lot of things planned for the 25th Anniversary in both America and Japan. Naturally, they are bringing out some goodies for the biggest anime convention in North America, Anime Expo.

p25 wish

Starting with the music, Atlus has one heck of a concert planned for Japan. I normally would be ready to hop on a flight to check it out but with Japan still under lock and key (no, set tours don't count) I'm hesitant about ordering tickets. The event, titled "Persona Super Live P-Sound Wish 2022," will take place on October 8 and 9 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. General tickets are still available for those wishing to experience it in person. For everyone else, you will be able to watch it at the comfort of your home. Each day costs 4400 yen, which, right now, equals just under $33 each. The concerts will have a full orchestra playing songs from Persona 5 and Persona 3 on day one, and Persona 5 and Persona 4 on day two.

You can purchase tickets over here.

Anyway, I digress. Let's go back to America.

p25 booth

The more normal of the Anime Expo features will be in the exhibit hall, where the Atlus booth will have a special Persona 25th Anniversary section. There will be merchandise on sale and a photo opportunity on hand. Teddie socks (from Persona 4), pins, and a windbreaker were a few of the items previewed on stream. For those unable to go to AX, you will be able to order items from the online Atlus shop.

p25 midnight

Anime Expo's Lounge 21 will turn into the Midnight Masquerade on the night of July 2 from 8PM onward. There will be themed drinks, photo opportunities, music, dancing, and more. Given how one of Persona's strengths is its music, you can expect a good time.

p25 shake

The Shake Ramen food truck will be on site at the convention and will have Persona-themed pin badges free with purchase. There are seven designs so if you want all of them, come hungry.

Not all of the events are going to be on-site in Los Angeles. A couple of them are in Anaheim (which you might better know as being where Disneyland is) and Irvine. They're technically close, but not so close that you could easily plan a jaunt over to them during the convention. Los Angeles county is deceptively big for those who are not familiar with it and the traffic is insane to the point that it will easily take you an hour or more to get to each place one way.

p25 macaron

The macaron shop Honey and Butter, over in Irvine, will have Persona-themed macarons for sale. There's a variety of flavors based on Persona available, and for those wanting to make their own at home, a Persona piping guide to show you just how to make your own.

p25 requiem

Requiem Cafe, over in Anaheim, will have a special Persona 25th Anniversary theme for the entirety of June running all the way to July 2nd. This gives you plenty of time to make the trek over if you're in southern California. They've got food, drinks, and a lot of neat props on deck. For those just coming for Anime Expo, hopefully the two or three days will be enough. They've got shirts, tote bags, keychains, stickers, and more for sale. If you want the whole shebang, it'll set you back a cool $155. Which, let's be honest, isn't that much when compared to the amount of money a lot of us will be throwing down at AX.

p25 shirts

The official Atlus Persona 25th Anniversary website has a bunch of goods available, including a set of five shirts based on the five Persona games, as well as a pretty snazzy turntable with Persona graphics and logos. That turntable will go perfectly with the Persona 25th Anniversary vinyl soundtrack set which is available here.  It's a little pricy at $400 for the set, but you are getting fifteen different records worth of music.

The Japanese website has different goods available for those of you with friends over in Japan, or who are experienced with using a shipping proxy.

So, what are you waiting for? Make sure to add some of these to your shopping list and schedule.
