During the Square Enix E3 press conference, producer Yoshinari Kitase and other presenters spoke in detail on how combat will work in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
A hybrid gameplay system that merges real-time action with strategic command-based combat called Tatical Mode. There are two ATB bars and once they are filled from landing enough attacks, the action will slow to a crawl and allow Cloud to perform an array of abilities. Aditionally if Materia is equipped Cloud can cast spells. Using items in combat will also use up a portion of the ATB bar.
Lastly, Tetsuya Nomura came out on stage and revealed a brand new extended trailer. In the trailer we get to see more scenes with Jessie and Wedge. Jessie hands cloud a materia. The highlight of the trailer is our first look at Tifa Lockheart and of course let's not forget Marlene. We get to see a small glimse of Tifa in action. The trailer concludes with a glimpse of Sephiroth. He tells Cloud to "Hold on to that hatered".
Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and will launch worldwide on March 3rd, 2020.
