TIMM's main goal is to connect Japanese music with overseas distribution. Its main components are Marketplace/Business Matching, Business Seminars, and the Live Music Showcase. If you're an anime con-goer, think exhibitor's hall, panels, and concerts and that would be a fairy accurate representation. The general attendees are distributors, buyers, and promoters looking for the latest and greatest in Japanese music. Breaking into overseas markets is largely dependent on finding the right people to talk to and TIMM can help with that.
Due to COVID19, TIMM has transitioned to an online format. Both the Live Music Showcase and one of the seminars will be available on YouTube. The seminar, "Diggin’ Japanese Popular Music," will have Nick Luscombe who has been a broadcaster on the BBC as well as a DJ. Producer Yosuke Kitazawa, Gearbox Records' Darrel Sheinman, and Modulor's Elvin Pagiras will also participate. Each of the speakers will present some of their favorite tracks and play them for your consideration.
The Live Music Showcase is split into three days and will feature a variety of musical acts including MADKID (The Rising of the Shield Hero), JUNNA (Macross Delta), Yoko Takahashi (Neon Genesis Evangelion), and MindaRyn (By the Grace of God). I would suggest checking out the entirety of the performances; I've found some of my favorite music by sheer coincidence. The artists range in genre
