You're probably thinking the book by Hunter S Thompson or the movie of the same name, but no, we're talking about the Japanese band. Prior to now Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas (shorthand: FALILV) haven't played in America but we're changing things this year.
I've seen them a few times in Japan at both their Mega Vegas festival in Kobe (which is where the band hails from) as well as alongside BanG Dream band RAISE A SUILEN.
They feature an electronic rock sound that proves popular and they have been featured in many anime and video games including Hunter x Hunter, Kaiji, Gundam Extreme VS, Sengoku Basara, Parasyte, Baki the Grappler, and many others.
The band has dual vocalists with Minami and So, and they can often be seen jumping into the mix of the crowd and going wild along with everyone else. The rhythm section is held down by bassist Tetsuya and drummer Tomonori, with Taiki as the sole guitarist.
Their fanbase is intense, to say the least, and it is a staple to see a lot of crowd activity including moshing, endless crowd surfing (they'll surf to the front, get down, and then run immediately to the back to do it all over again), and piggy-back rides. A lot of other big name bands and franchises in Japan restrict this kind of activity so I'm glad that they buck that trend. At Mega Vegas in particular the crowd goes wild, unhinged even, and you'll see lots of glowsticks going airborne.
They also have good designs for their shirts. This stands out amongst other tour shirts in Japan which are, strangely enough, kind of terrible. You would think a country with so many good artists would have consistently good tour shirts but you'd be wrong. You can also purchase their shirts online which is another thing that I like about them. Oftentimes you have to buy shirts in person at events and if they sell out, you're out of luck.
Their first US date is going to be at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on October 3. They'll be playing a solo show at the Glass House in Pomona on October 4, which is where we were for NEMOPHILA just a couple of months back, and is the one I'd prioritize for sure given the short set times that are common at festivals. It's also Sacramento, which means it'll be hot as hell, and Aftershock is an outside event.
On a side note, the Mega Vegas festival is a good festival to check out if you get the chance. It takes place at the Kobe World Memorial Hall on Port Island and is about an hour away from Osaka. They feature a variety of bands in the rock, metal, and idol genres, amongst others. To be honest, I first went to Mega Vegas 2024 to see Ave Mujica, which is one of my top metal bands to see. They're another one who haven't hit the US shores yet but hopefully with Roselia returning to America at this year's Anime Expo we might get to see them too. Similarly, I learned that Togenashi Togeari would be playing at Anime Expo when I was on the plane to Mega Vegas 2025, specifically to see Togenashi Togeari for the first time. This year's planeloads proved too costly for me to make a third go, but hopefully next year is in the cards. The festival is always during cherry blossom season (much to my chagrin), so if you happen to be in the Kansai region during that time period, check it out. It's quite comfortable of a festival as it is indoors and they have both standing areas on the floor complimented by seated areas up top. Food vendors are outside the venue so you don't need to leave the area.
If you happen to be in Los Angeles for the upcoming US debut show, or in Japan whenever they are holding events, I wholeheartedly recommend giving the band a shot.
